Prescription and Non-Prescription Drug Labeling

The FDA requires that CRP statements be in the dosage or storage areas, on both the bottle and product information sheet for prescription medications. Containers used to repackage items for dispensing to consumers are not regulated by the FDA. These include the child-resistant bottles and caps used by pharmacies and hospitals to send medications home with patients. The FDA has no regulations on where to place CRP statements on drug fact labeling (DFL) for non-prescription or OTC drugs. When choosing CRP for non-prescription and OTC drugs you will not need to notify the FDA of CPSC compliance, but you should keep the data proving packaging has been tested and passes regulation standards.
