The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) offers guidelines for labeling child-resistant packaging (CRP). FDA guidelines for labeling child-resistant packaging are meant as a way to assist packaging companies, manufacturers, and sellers with the correct labeling procedures for CRP. The primary type of labeling required is a CRP statement, which provides visual proof packaging meets CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) testing requirements. In order for companies to accurately label packaging as child-resistant, the FDA states that it must pass the CPSC testing protocol. Any company intending to use CRP statements will need to notify the FDA, in writing, that packaging has met CPSC standards.
