Date: January 29, 2020
The CPSC requires the child-resistant packaging can't be hard for the average adult to open but must be difficult for children age five and under to open. The goal in child-resistant packaging is to prevent children from accessing enough of the product, to seriously harm themselves. For packaging to be child-resistant, 80 percent of children that undergo specialized testing procedures with the potential packaging must not be able to open it within 10 minutes. Likewise, 90 percent of adults have to gain access within six minutes; five for opening, one for resealing when applicable.Â
