As Berlin Packaging announces two acquisitions this month, we catch up with Bruni Glass France, (part of Berlin Packaging) at LuxePack Monaco 2019 (September 30-October 2).

Matteo Vitale, head of sales, Bruni Glass France told BeverageDaily the company focuses on speciality glass bottles and jars for the wine, spirits, and food sector across European markets.

Proactive market

He said in France it is currently working on high end spirits and food, for example with Barcardi and it is designing custom-made bottles and enclosures for gin and cognac which is the most proactive market within the drinks industry in the country.

“In France, we can see lots of different trends. Gin is focusing on a lighter bottle which is transparent and cognac is evolving but sticking to a high-end thick-bottomed bottle with a relevant stopper and closure,” he said.

“Lightweighting is becoming more popular, and we now have the possibility to produce an elegant bottle without using heavy weight glass.”

Berlin Packaging recently announced the acquisition of Verrerie Calvet, a packaging supplier in Aimargues, France, and Vidrimon, a supplier of olive oil bottles and glass packaging for Southern Europe, located in Montilla Spain.

Vidrimon

Vidrimon marks the 12th acquisition of Berlin since 2010 and the fourth in Europe in 2019, and adds to the strategic sites of France, Italy, the Netherlands, and now Spain.

Vidrimon will become part of the Bruni Glass organization and the company will be named Bruni Glass Iberia, a Berlin Packaging Company.

"We experienced significant growth in Europe in 2019, with the arrival of four strong companies in our organization," said Andrew Berlin, president/CEO, Berlin Packaging. As we grow, we remain steadfast in our commitment to quality, innovative design and helping our customers improve bottom line through our packaging products and services."
